Building a New Generation of Academics Africa (Banga Africa) Phase 4
The University of Sierra Leone (USL) in collaboration with the University of Ghana (UG) will be implementing Phase 4 of the Project “Building a New Generation of Academics in Africa” (BANGA-Africa) sponsored by the CARNEGIE CORPORATION of NEW YORK. BANGA-4 PhD awards will encourage early completion of PhD thesis research and enhance the scholarship of USL & UG’s PhD products. Focal discipline: Research areas that align with USL and UG’s research priorities are strongly encouraged.
Eligibility
Applications for the BANGA-Africa Scholarship.
- Be a full-time PhD candidate at USL
- Have excellent academic credentials and must demonstrate commitment to pursuing an academic career
- Be targeted for an academic/research position
- The scholarship may be used for split-site PhD programmes between USL and UG. The age limit is precisely 45 years or below
Mode of Application
Application for the grant must be endorsed by the relevant Head of Department and Dean.
- Applicants should submit it for the following;
- A completed application form
- Most relevant CV (3 pp max)
- A certified copy of first degree and MPhil certificates
- A statement of research objectives and how the applicant intends to use the scholarship award to enhance his/her research output
- A maximum 3 page (PhD) research proposal clearly outlining the background, objectives, scope and methodology. A work plan and a budget must be attached on separate sheets
