The presentation took place at the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor’s conference room at New England Ville in Freetown.

During the event, the Acting Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Yatta Kosia Kamara, expressed profound appreciation to the SJJ Foundation for their kind gesture. “We are happy to receive this generous donation of books and laptop computers. As a college, we are delighted that we were chosen. Though it is not a surprise, because at COMAHS, we pride ourselves as the premier institution producing medical professionals in Sierra Leone,” she said. She assured the Foundation that the items would be used for their intended purpose.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor James B. W. Russell, who also serves as the Pro-Vice Chancellor, was in attendance. In his brief statement, he extended profound gratitude to the Sir Juma Jalloh Foundation for such a philanthropic gesture, especially coming from a Sierra Leonean organization. “We deeply value the demonstration of partnership and collaboration the Foundation has just rendered, and we plead that this donation will not be a one-off thing,” he said. He reiterated that the items would be used for the rightful purpose for which they were donated. The DVC added that the books and laptops would benefit not only students from the nursing faculty but also those in other Allied Health Sciences programs across the campus.

Madam Yenken Kamara, a founding member of the SJJ Foundation, speaking on behalf of the Foundation’s Chairman, Mr. Osman Jalloh, said the SJJ Foundation firmly believes that access to quality learning materials is essential for both students and health professionals to thrive in a highly competitive learning environment. “In today’s modern library environment, technology—particularly the use of computers and other internet-connected devices—plays a vital role in supporting academic development and access to information,” she said. She continued that the laptops were provided mainly to support students’ research and learning productivity within the library environment.

Finally, the Senior Assistant Librarian, Mr. David Gbagaima, extended his appreciation to the SJJ Foundation and added that the donated materials would be processed and immediately placed on the library shelves, ready for use.
