Program Description

The Pre-Dentistry Program at the University of Sierra Leone is a foundational academic program designed to prepare students for admission into dental school and related oral health professional programs. It provides strong grounding in basic sciences, health sciences, and professional competencies required for success in dental education.

Career Opportunities:

Entry into Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS/DMD) or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programs

Dental Assistant or Dental Therapy Training (where applicable)

Oral Health or Dental Public Health Pathways (with further training)

Health Sciences or Biomedical Degree Programs

Graduates of the Pre-Dentistry Program are well prepared to advance into professional dental education and related health science careers.

Pre-Dentistry-Entry Requirement
Students can enter the Pre Dentistry 2 programme either through successful completion of the COMAHS premedical 1 programme or through direct entry depending on the admission criteria listed below:

Final selection of all applicants is subject to a successful interview.
Entry into COMAHS Premedical programme 5 WASSCE credits (C5 or better) in the following subjects: English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics/Further Mathematics and Physics, in not more than two sittings, or an equivalent qualification.
A candidate who scores an aggregate of not more than 10 in the listed subjects shall be admitted in the Pre-med 2 programme and a, candidate who scores not more than aggregate 15 shall be admitted into the
Premed 1 programme.
Candidate with GCE subsidiary A level (AS) with scores A-C in any two subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics shall be admitted into the Pre-med l programme. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
