When our founders raised the first flag in 1827, the world was vastly different , the Industrial Revolution was reshaping economies, the transatlantic slave trade had only recently been abolished, and this very Freetown peninsula was emerging as a beacon of freedom and learning.

For 200 years, Fourah Bay College has stood as the *“Athens of West Africa,”* producing generations of leaders, scholars, jurists, clergy, diplomats, scientists, and public servants who have shaped Sierra Leone, Africa, and the wider world.
