Conflict and Security   Management (SCPP1301)

This 1-week course will address topics like problem identification, warning signs and prevention of conflicts. It will enable conflict practitioners, managers and resolutionists to understand the nature and dynamics of both intra and inter-state conflicts as well as national and international security management.

Major consideration will be given to understanding the contemporary tools and techniques used in resolving conflicts and promote security in different environments.

This 1-week course provides participants with a general introductory understanding of public policy, and the policy process in the private and public sectors. Specifically, it will enable private practitioners including NGOs, Civil Society Groups, Business Entrepreneurs and Public Sector workers and Executives to be aware of the tools used in policy making and how these are utilised to influence the policy process.

Diplomatic Theory and Practice (SCPP1303)

This 1-week course will introduce officials in the early stages of their careers in the diplomatic service to the theory and practice of diplomacy. The course will in particular explore the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the art of diplomatic negotiation and the various modes of diplomacy.

Target Group: This course is designed for cadet officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Senior Officials in other departments that may from time to time be engaged in international negotiations.

Good Governance (SCPP1305)

This 1-week course aims to help participants understand the major indicators of governance and to develop strategies that will ensure good governance practices. Particular attention will be given to measures that will promote and enhance transparency, capability, responsiveness, accountability, rule of law, control of corruption, government effectiveness, political stability and instability and regulatory mechanisms.

The course targets senior managers in the public sector, MDAs, NGOs, civil society groups and private organisations.

Combating Money Laundering & Other Financial Crimes (SCPP1306)

This 1-week course will attempt to increase awareness of the potential and impact of money laundering activities and to discuss money laundering control mechanisms.

Also, this course will help participants develop critical skills in tracking money laundering and financial crimes perpetrated through the financial system in Sierra Leone and the sub-region.

Target Group: This course is targeted at senior/middle level officials of central banks, parliament, core economic ministries, mass media, security agencies and other institutions responsible for ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering.
