MASTER IN DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

Course Profile

A two year postgraduate degree programme designed primarily for serving officers and career professionals dedicated to national development and who already have greater managerial/administrative responsibilities in development organizations. Also, the course would suit other professionals wishing to enter the development and public administrative sectors.

The programme is dynamic and indispensable in terms of development, which embodies both the public and private sectors. It enables participants to clear the roots leading to development worldwide and provide smooth sail to economic growth.

Year One- First semester

Compulsory modules: Economic Analysis for Development, Human Resource Management, Development Finance, Management Information Systems, Management Skills, Fundamentals of Public Policy.

Second semester

Compulsory modules: Political Economy of Development, Project Planning & Management, Strategic Management, National Development Policy & Planning, Decentralization, Research  & Statistical Methods.

Year Two- First semester

Compulsory modules :  Responsibility & Ethics, Economic Development Concepts, Gender & Development, Private Sector Development, Managing Public Enterprise and Organizational Behaviour.

Second semester

Compulsory modules: Dissertation, Health Sector Management, and Privatization & Deregulation.

Electives (select 2)

Purchasing & Procurement, International Trade & Finance, Advanced Performance Management, Agricultural Economics, Voluntary Sector Management, Financial Sector Management, Advanced Human Resource Management.

Compulsory: Thesis/ Research
