IPAM Junior Staff Graduate with Certificates in Facility Management
In a significant step towards institutional capacity building, a cohort of junior staff from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, were awarded Certificates in Facility Management on 8th January 2026.
The ceremony, held at the Ekundayo Thompson Building, was presided over by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ezekiel Duramany-Lakkoh. The Deputy Registrar, Mr. Albert Baio, presented the staff members who successfully completed a robust training program designed to enhance their skills in managing campus facilities, as part of a broader initiative for staff development and upward mobility.
In his address, Professor Duramany-Lakkoh commended this strategic investment in the institute’s human resources. “IPAM has reached an exciting milestone: the first cohort of junior staff have completed training in Facility Management and graduated with a Certificate of Participation,” he stated. “This achievement is more than just a training program. It represents a commitment to building capacity within our own community.”
The DVC elaborated that the program signifies:
· A firm commitment to building internal capacity and expertise.
· The acquisition of practical skills that will strengthen the management and care of IPAM’s facilities.
· A clear pathway for junior staff to grow professionally and contribute more confidently to IPAM’s ongoing transformation.
This milestone marks a proud step forward for the graduates and serves as a powerful reminder to the wider IPAM community that investing in people is a direct investment in the institution’s future. Together, this initiative helps shape a culture of continuous learning, responsibility, and excellence.
“Let’s celebrate this success,” Professor Duramany-Lakkoh concluded, “and look ahead to the many more opportunities that will empower our staff, students, and the entire IPAM community.”
