Over two thousand students of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), the University of Sierra Leone matriculated on 19th May 2021 at the Ajayi Crowther Amphitheatre, FBC.
A matriculation ceremony is very important in universities because it is through that process students become full fledge members of a University after receiving their offer of acceptance.
All undergraduate and some postgraduate students were required to take part in the ceremony. Diploma students are not allowed to matriculate.
The University Registrar, Mrs. Olive. A.K. Barrie emphasized the significance of University education in both personal and national development. She therefore told the students that signing the University Register is a legal contract with the administration for effective learning and good behavior.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, IPAM, Professor Edmond Nonie congratulated the students on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone, Brigadier General Professor Foday Sahr. He admonished the students to abide by the rules and regulations governing the University and IPAM throughout their course work. He emphasized the need to meet deadlines for continuous assessment especially assignments and submission of projects.
The Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, IPAM, Dr. Duramani-Lakkoh outlined the benefits of using library, punctuality, class participation and the continuous use of English as strategic means of proficiency.
The students were very relaxed with smiles and hopes after signing the Register.
