The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) has certified thirteen new peer tutors from its Writing, Learning and Foundation Studies Centre. The newly certified tutors are now equipped to assist fellow students in honing their academic writing skills.
The certification ceremony, held on February 11 2026 at the campus, brought together key supporters of the Centre’s mission. Among the distinguished attendees were former Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Miriam Conteh-Morgan, the current Head of the Department of Accountancy, and the Head of the Statistics and Students’ Information Unit, all of whom have contributed to the Centre’s growth and success over the years.
The Students’ Union President commended the new tutors and voiced his optimism for the positive impact they will have on the student body. “We are confident that their dedication will inspire their peers and foster a stronger culture of academic excellence across all departments,” he stated.
Delivering the keynote address, IPAM’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ezekiel Kalvin Duramany-Lakkoh, congratulated the tutors and urged them to continue making a difference. “You are not just tutors; you are builders of confidence and clarity,” he told the new inductees. He also extended a forward-looking challenge to the Centre’s Director, Mrs. Michaela Denison-George. “We must think beyond these walls. My vision is for this Centre to evolve into a digital hub, a virtual space that extends its reach to students who cannot always be on campus,” Prof. Duramany-Lakkoh said.
In response, Mrs. Denison-George expressed gratitude for the management’s support and acknowledged the team effort behind the Centre’s success. College Management has since conveyed its profound appreciation to the Writing, Learning and Foundation Studies Centre for its ongoing and significant contribution to teaching and learning at IPAM.
