Diploma in Mass Communication (Journalism and Media Studies)

The Diploma in Mass Communication is designed to enhance the workforce development of the media industry. It is a professional diploma that caters specifically to working journalists and other media practitioners with at least five years of working experience in the media or media related field and for early career beginners. To fulfil the requirements for the Diploma, students must complete 60 credit hours of course work over a 2-year period.

For the Diploma in Mass Communication, a minimum of four credits at WASSCE including English Language in not more than two sittings for those applicants from school. Applicants with over 5 years’ experience in the media and journalism can be admitted into the Diploma programme under the mature age proviso if they had attempted the WASSCE or O. Levels. Applicants in the Diploma programme are not required to take the Special Examination in English. Those who will eventually choose to continue to the degree programme on completion of their Diploma and the acquisition of the university’s entry requirement for degree will take the examination as part of that application process.
