FBC Appeals to SLRA for Urgent Repair of “Death Trap” Campus Road

Freetown, October 13, 2025
A delegation from Fourah Bay College (FBC), led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Baio, met with the Director-General of the Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA), Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu, to address the critical condition of the FBC road.

Professor Baio described the road as “dilapidated” and a “death trap,” requiring urgent maintenance. He appealed to the SLRA for sustainable repairs ahead of the college’s upcoming Bicentenary celebrations.

In response, Ing. Momodu commended the FBC team’s commitment and assured them that the SLRA would fill the potholes before the congregation in December 2025. He also outlined a long-term solution, which includes paving the road and constructing proper drainages to ensure its sustainability.

Both parties agreed on a strategic path forward, defining their respective roles and responsibilities. The FBC delegation expressed gratitude for the SLRA’s receptive and committed response.
