Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences currently runs a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including Advanced Diploma in Pharmacy {Pharmacy Technician), BPharm. {Hons) {Pharmacy Officer) and a Research Master’s Degree (Special Masters with Thesis) and Doctorate degree in a number of pharmaceutical disciplines such as Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacognosy.

The faculty currently has five departments: Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy Technician, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmacognosy.

The requirement for enrolment into the advanced diploma in Pharmacy programme is a minimum of five credit at WASSCE, C6 or better in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematic/Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Health Science, and Physics/Core Science in not more than two {2) sittings. Admission into first year B. Pharm programme is as follows:

  • Successful completion of the one-year Pre-Pharmacy programme, OR
  • Advance diploma in Pharmacy OR
  • Second class lower bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in the Sciences

The requirement for admission into the Pre-Pharmacy programme is a minimum of five credit at WASSCE, CS or better in any four of the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics/Core Science and Biology; and a C6 in the fifth, with a maximum aggregate of 21 in not more than two sittings, or its equivalent.
